Ravi Corea

Coordinator - Human-elephant Conflict Task Force at IUCN

Ravi Corea is a conservation leader with extensive experience in mitigating human-elephant conflicts and advancing wildlife conservation efforts. As President of the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society since October 1995, Ravi developed innovative community-based strategies that earned recognition through the UNDP Equator Prize in 2008 and a Sri Lanka National Science Foundation award in 2010. In addition, as Coordinator of the Human-elephant Conflict Task Force within the IUCN/SSC Asian Specialist Group since January 2008, Ravi plays a pivotal role in addressing pressing conservation issues. Contributions to herpetology include consultancy work at the American Museum of Natural History, where digitization of the historic frog call collection and curatorial assistance are ongoing responsibilities. Ravi's educational background includes a BA in Conservation Biology & Bio-physical Anthropology from Columbia University, completed between 1996 and 2003. Prior experience also includes program development support at the Wildlife Conservation Society and a role as an alumni at Columbia University from 1995 to 2003.
