Alexa Rahman ’24 (she/her/hers) was elected as student trustee in May 2022 and will serve for a term of two years. She is a School of Music student who is working toward a degree in Music with an Outside Field. Alexa is concentrating her studies on vocal performance, and her outside field will be Civil Rights Studies, a combination of IC’s African Diaspora Studies and Legal Studies minors as well as some other humanities courses that pertain to that field.
Alexa is motivated to excel in all that she does, from academics, to music, to equine care and training, for which she’s received seven world championship titles as well as the Horse World People's Choice Award in 2017-2020, National Horseman All American Award in 2017-18, and the United States Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year Award in 2015-2020.
At Ithaca College, Alexa is the Co-President of IC Musicians of Color Association, Vice President of the Island Fusion Dance Team, Secretary of Amani Gospel Singers and a choir member in the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers. She is also a member of the IC Black Student Union and on the IC Figure Skating Team. Her past service activities include speaking engagements and performances at various panels, conferences, and nursing homes as well as helping children with disabilities to learn to skate and visually impaired children learn to ride horses.
