Bob Gunion

Control System Architect at ITER Organization

Bob Gunion is a seasoned control systems architect with extensive experience in designing operational applications for large-scale scientific projects, currently contributing to the ITER Organization since March 2021. With a long tenure at Berkeley Lab starting in September 2002, Gunion has held multiple roles including Technical Lead for control systems and instrumentation for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade, and Senior Software Engineer for control systems supporting advanced X-ray optics research. Previous positions include software engineering roles at Silicon Energy, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, alongside a postdoctoral associate role at the University of Utah. Bob Gunion holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
