Jaco Botes has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Jaco began their career as a Human Factors Engineer and Software Developer at Ergotech Ergonomics Technologies in 1994. Jaco then worked as a Product Development Engineer at Envirosense, LLC from 2000 to 2004, where they played a key role in the acquisition by American Innovations. At American Innovations, they held various positions including Product Development Engineer, Manager of Bullhorn Applications Engineering, Director of Software Development, and Director of Product Strategy. During their time at American Innovations, they were responsible for strategic direction, product development, software backend, and M2M/IoT hardware and cloud-based SaaS/DaaS software. After leaving American Innovations, Jaco Botes joined Booz Allen Hamilton in 2015 as a Senior Digital Strategist and IoT Architect, where they owned the strategy and technology vision for IoT solution offerings and developed strategic alliances. Most recently, they worked at Iridium, first as a Senior Manager IoT Product Management from 2017 to 2022, and then as an Associate Director, Product Management: Cloud and IoT from 2022 onwards. In these roles, they focused on developing cloud-based solutions, building partnerships, and driving IoT strategies.

Jaco Botes has a diverse educational background with a focus on engineering and management. Jaco earned their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, where they studied from 1988 to 1991. Following this, they pursued higher education and completed their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Bio-engineering/Human Factors from the same institution from 1992 to 1994.

Jaco further expanded their knowledge and qualifications by attending The University of Texas at Austin, where they obtained a Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSE) degree in 2010. This program likely enhanced their skills in managing engineering projects.

In addition to their formal education, Jaco Botes has obtained various certifications to complement their academic background. Jaco holds certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS), including AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Partner: AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, AWS Partner: Cloud Economics Accreditation, and AWS Partner: Business Accreditation. These certifications demonstrate their expertise in cloud computing and business-related aspects of AWS. Furthermore, Jaco has also acquired the Pragmatic Marketing Certified designation from Pragmatic Institute, proving their knowledge in marketing strategies and product management.
