Nawal Al-Hosany serves as the UAE’s permanent representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) since March 2018, prior to which Nawal held the position of Deputy Director General at the Emirates Diplomatic Academy from October 2017 to December 2018. Nawal was the Director of the Zayed Future Energy Prize from January 2010 to February 2018, contributing significantly to recognizing achievements in innovative energy solutions. Additionally, Nawal worked with Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) from August 2008 to October 2017, where Nawal served as Executive Director and led sustainability efforts. Nawal’s career also includes roles within the Abu Dhabi Police, including Planning Deputy Director and Head of Studies and Design. Academically, Nawal earned a Ph.D. in Sustainable Architecture from Newcastle University and holds a BSc in Architectural Engineering from UAE University, complemented by an Executive Education Program from Harvard Business School and an honorary Doctor of Letters from Keele University.
