Zachary Gordon began their work experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania in August 2010. From June 2011 to June 2012, they worked as a Product Steward with the Corporate Regulatory Data Group at DuPont. Following this, Zachary joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Graduate Researcher from August 2012 to March 2018. In April 2018, they became a Senior Scientist in R&D at DSM and remained in that role until April 2021. From April 2021 to May 2023, Zachary worked as a Senior Scientist in R&D at Covestro. Currently, they hold the position of Polymer Scientist III at Ion Storage Systems, which they started in May 2023.

Zachary Gordon completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2009 to 2011, they attended the University of Pennsylvania and attained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2012 to 2017. There, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Inorganic Chemistry.
