Loren Blackford is Board Secretary and Investment Committee Chair with the Sierra Club Foundation and is a past President/Board Chair of the Sierra Club and Sierra Club Foundation. Loren spent a decade working in community development, first in the executive office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, a non-profit intermediary that provides community development corporations with grants, loans and equity investments (through affiliates). She also advised Living Cities, a coalition of foundations, financial institutions and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, on catalyzing financing and political will for sustainable affordable housing, transportation-oriented development and green jobs. Prior to that, she worked on civil society’s participation in international environmental negotiations with the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service and the Quaker UN Office. Loren graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School and Oberlin College.
