Shane Lowe, FRM, is an experienced economist currently serving at the International Monetary Fund since May 2022. Previous roles include economist positions at the International Finance Corporation from February 2019 to May 2022 and at the Central Bank of Barbados from September 2010 to May 2014. Shane also held the position of president at the Barbados Economics Society from December 2017 to January 2019 and worked as a strategy and economic analyst at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank from June 2014 to December 2018. Notable responsibilities include modeling and forecasting banks’ non-performing loans and liquidity risks, contributing to financial stability reports, and conducting research in financial stability and international business. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Economics and an MSc in International Financial Economics from the University of Glasgow, alongside a BSc in Economics and Accounting from The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus.
