Marco Avila is an experienced human resources professional currently serving as the Head of the Global Services Centre at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) since November 2014. Avila also held several other roles within IFRC, including Global Manager of the HR Business Partnering Unit and Senior Officer for Special Projects. Prior to joining IFRC, Avila worked at Maersk Line from 1995 to October 2014, where responsibilities included Human Resources Management roles in the Caribbean Sea Cluster and the Gulf. Avila's educational background includes an International HR Directors Certification from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Universidad Rafael Landívar, along with other relevant qualifications in human resources and finance.
