Christopher Ahn has a diverse work experience in various industries including healthcare, finance, aerospace, education, and customer service. Christopher began their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Utah, where they taught physics and astronomy courses and assisted students with their coursework. Christopher later worked as an Adjunct Professor at Salt Lake Community College, teaching an entry-level astronomy course.
In 2011, Ahn started working as a Research Assistant at the University of Utah, where they analyzed a large dataset from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and developed a program to determine accurate redshift measurements of quasars.
Christopher then transitioned to a role as a Service Coordinator at Discount Tire, where they managed the safety and workflow of the back room, generated sales, and communicated effectively with customers.
In 2018, Ahn joined Northrop Grumman as a Core Quality Principal Data Engineer, where they developed machine learning algorithms, automated ETL procedures, and implemented statistical techniques for error detection on a sub-millimeter scale.
Christopher then moved to Discover Financial Services, where they served as a Data Scientist and later as a Lead Data Scientist. In these roles, they led and coached a team of data scientists, contributed to the identification of key business metrics, developed infrastructure for database pipelines, and introduced statistical process control for goal setting.
Currently, Ahn is working as a Lead Data Scientist at Intermountain Healthcare, where they lead and mentors a team, develops novel metrics for the healthcare industry, and creates statistical prediction models to improve physician satisfaction and patient outcomes.
Throughout their career, Ahn has demonstrated skills in data analysis, machine learning, statistical techniques, programming languages (SQL and Python), and database management.
Christopher Ahn completed their education as follows:
From 2008 to 2013, they attended the University of Utah, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics.
Continuing their studies, Ahn pursued a Master's degree in Physics at the University of Utah from 2013 to 2017.
During the same period, from 2013 to 2018, they concurrently worked towards a PhD in Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Utah.
Additionally, in March 2020, Ahn obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) certification from Thomas A. Little Consulting.
