Ty Chiko

Director Of Vocal Music, Instructor Of Voice at Interlochen

Ty Chiko, DMA, currently serves as the Director of Vocal Music and Instructor of Voice at the Interlochen Center for the Arts since August 2024. Previous experience includes roles as Executive Assistant and Resident Artist with the Portland Opera, where Ty performed in the production of 'Beatrice.' Ty held positions such as Music Director at Portland'5 Centers for the Arts and Voice Teacher at Resound NW: A Place To Sing. As a Program Coordinator at Arizona State University, Ty worked in the Office of Student Engagement and Creative Careers, along with serving as Associate Faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Voice Department. Additionally, Ty was the inaugural Musician-in-Residence Coordinator for Mirabella at ASU and has experience as a CEO of Broken Breadhaus and Youth Mentor at Mulligan's Manor. A freelance musician in Albuquerque, Ty holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Arizona State University, a Master’s in Voice Performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
