Lorcan C. has a diverse work experience in the technology and research fields. In 2014, they worked as an Engineer at Intercom. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2015, they were a Technical Reviewer at Manning Publications Co. Lorcan also held the position of Software Engineer, Founder, and CTO at EgoNav Analytics from 2011 to 2014. In this role, they developed a product tackling multi-agent fraud in the financial industry. Between 2009 and 2011, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lero@UL, where they contributed to the production of a funding proposal for the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre. Lorcan's research experience includes being a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College Dublin from 2005 to 2009, focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to pervasive computing. Additionally, they served as a Mentor and Principal Investigator at UCD Dublin, ODCSSS 2007 from 2007 to 2009 and as a Consultant at Trinity College Dublin in 2005, where they produced databases from political texts for automated feature extraction. In 2004, Lorcan worked as a Consultant for the Commission on Electronic Voting, testing the proposed electronic voting system and contributing to the commission's recommendations to the Irish government.
Lorcan C. obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Lorcan later pursued a PhD in Computer Science at the same institution from 2001 to 2004. Following this, in 2008 to 2009, Lorcan pursued a Graduate Diploma in University Teaching and Learning at University College Dublin.
