Paulo da Costa is a highly experienced data scientist currently serving as a Staff Data Scientist at Integral Ad Science since July 2023, focusing on multimodal foundational models and video analysis. Within academia, Paulo holds a position as Associate Faculty at the National College of Ireland in the School of Computing, starting September 2024. Previously, Paulo worked at Etsy as a Senior Applied Scientist, specializing in open set object detection and multimodal machine learning techniques. Paulo's research background includes a PhD candidacy at Eindhoven University of Technology, along with roles at Liberty Insurance Ireland and Banco Santander, where expertise in machine learning for pricing and recommender systems was developed. Paulo has a Doctor of Philosophy in Machine Learning and Combinatorial Optimisation from Eindhoven University of Technology, complemented by a Master of Science in Business Analytics from University College Dublin, and a Bachelor of Science in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas.
