Jonathan Mosser, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Health Metrics Sciences at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, where he leads the Vaccine Coverage and Vaccine-Preventable Disease team. This dedicated team of professional staff, researchers, and trainees produces estimates of vaccine coverage and VPD burden for the Global Burden of Disease study, while also using geospatial modeling techniques to estimate local patterns of coverage and burden around the world.
Dr. Mosser studied biochemistry as an undergraduate at Middlebury College. He then completed a MPH with a focus in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His clinical training included a residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington/Seattle Childrenās Hospital, and he continues to see patients as a practicing Pediatric Infectious Disease physician. Prior to his arrival at IHME in 2016, his research included clinical studies of pediatric HIV regimens and intrahousehold transmission dynamics of Streptococcus pneumoniae.
IHME was established at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2007. Its mission is to deliver to the world timely, relevant, and scientifically valid evidence to improve health policy and practice.
