Our Mission
ICP advances effective and inclusive processes to build peaceful and climate-conscious futures for the wellbeing of all, especially those on the front lines of the climate crisis.
The Institute for Climate and Peace meets its mission by:
(i) producing innovative, interdisciplinary research on climate change’s impacts on peace-building and the capacity of peace-building processes to create just and enduring solutions to climate change
(ii) developing policies to facilitate real-world solutions for the general public as well as decision-makers in the public, private, and independent sectors
The Institute is a two-way conduit between front-line communities and specialists in the peace and climate fields.  Institute researchers and academic affiliates craft new methods and policies in direct response to community requests for tools that help them prevent and manage conflict and mitigate, adapt to, and rebound from climate impacts.

The Apprentices at the Institute for Climate and Peace play a vital role in supporting the organization’s mission by assisting with research projects, policy development, and outreach initiatives. They collaborate with senior researchers to analyze the intersection of climate change and peace-building, help craft innovative tools and strategies in response to community needs, and engage with local stakeholders to ensure that their insights and experiences inform the Institute's initiatives. Through hands-on learning and active participation, Apprentices contribute to building sustainable and equitable solutions for vulnerable communities.

The Analysis Team at the Institute for Climate and Peace conducts in-depth research to evaluate the intersections between climate change and peace-building efforts. By synthesizing data and insights from front-line communities and experts, the team identifies innovative strategies and policies to foster resilience against climate impacts while promoting peaceful coexistence. Their findings inform decision-makers across various sectors, ensuring that solutions are both practical and rooted in the needs of those most affected by climate challenges.
