Alberto Ballestín

Marie Skłodowska-curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (european Commission - Horizon Europe) at Institut Curie

Alberto Ballestín is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Institut Curie, specializing in the role of astrogliosis in brain tumor recurrence following microsurgical resection, as part of the GlioSurg project funded by the European Commission. Previously, Alberto held a postdoctoral researcher position at the same institute, focusing on interactions between glioblastoma cells and the perivascular niche under Dr. Giorgio Seano. Alberto has completed two secondments at The Netherlands Cancer Institute, enhancing expertise in intravital microscopy of cancer. Leadership roles include serving as President of the International Microsurgery Simulation Society and as Secretary of the Asociación Española de Microcirugía. Alberto's academic background encompasses a PhD in Reconstructive Microsurgery from Universidad de Extremadura, alongside various research experiences at Columbia University Medical Center.
