Marie Woottum is a PhD candidate and researcher at Institut Cochin, specializing in the signaling of immune cells and retroviral infection, with a focus on HIV-1 cell-to-cell spreading mechanisms in macrophages and dendritic cells. Previous experience includes a master’s thesis project analyzing HIV-1 expression during viral transfer and research internships at Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, where Marie studied the role of UNG in HIV-1 transfer between T-cells and macrophages. Marie has also contributed to projects on nanopores in biophysics and the relationship between neurodegenerative diseases and the human microbiome. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Virology from Université Paris Cité and multiple degrees in biomaterials and biology from CY Cergy Paris Université.
