Nassir Ghaemi has a diverse work experience in the field of psychiatry and mental health. Nassir is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at InSite Health, where they are involved in designing and implementing a new approach to psychiatric care for young adults and teenagers. Prior to this, they worked as a Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and as a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance. Nassir also founded the newsletter and website, The Psychiatry Letter, which provides educational webinars and free information on psychiatry and mental health. Additionally, Nassir Ghaemi has held positions as a Director at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), a Healthcare Consultant at Teladoc Health, and Associate/Assistant Professor roles at Emory University School of Medicine, Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, and The George Washington University.
Nassir Ghaemi completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from George Mason University in 1986. Nassir then pursued a Doctor of Medicine degree in Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, graduating in 1990. Later, Ghaemi obtained a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Tufts University between the years 1995 and 2001. Finally, they earned a Master of Public Health degree in Clinical Effectiveness from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from 2002 to 2004.
