Richard G. Jones currently serves as the Managing Editor of Opinion at The Philadelphia Inquirer, a position held since July 2021. Prior to this role, Richard held the position of Annenberg-Joyce Director of the John W. Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy at the University of Notre Dame from June 2017 to June 2021, where responsibilities included teaching undergraduate journalism courses and managing the program. Richard's professional trajectory also includes significant experience at The New York Times, where roles encompassed Director of the Student Journalism Institute and Associate Editor. Additional academic roles were held at various institutions, including visiting and adjunct professorships teaching journalism at the University of Delaware, American University, Rutgers University, and New York University. Richard began a journalism career as a reporter for The New York Times, focusing on topics such as local politics and sports, and holds a Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
