Rob McGruer serves as a Director of Policy, Trust, Data, and Technology team, focusing on privacy and data issues.
Rob has private sector, government and regulatory experience across telecoms, media and technology policy. He has spent the past six years at UK communications regulator Ofcom, where he managed the agency’s international engagement, EU and Brexit policy, and was an advisor to the Chairman and Chief Executive on both policy and operational issues.
Rob spent 2019 as an International Fellow at the Federal Trade Commission working on privacy and data security enforcement, and also with FTC policy teams to push forward a more coherent global approach across competition, privacy and content regulation. He has also worked in Brussels for six years leading the EU technology and trade practice of a global public affairs consultancy.
Rob holds a Masters in European Union law from King's College London, and an undergraduate degree in French and German from the University of Leeds.
