Don Bigler has worked in various roles in the engineering field since 2000. Their most recent position is Vice President of Engineering at imvaria inc., a role they have held since 2021. Prior to this, they were a Principal Engineer at Framatome from 2017 to 2021. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Robotics Research Engineer at Energid Technologies, where they assisted in proposal efforts for government and commercial opportunities, ported Actin to embedded OS’s, and implemented ROS integration to Actin. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Software Engineer IV at AREVA NP, where they were responsible for software design, maintenance, and support for tools employed in nuclear NDE, and created a sophisticated 3D GUI control application for cavitation peening. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher III at the University of Texas Southwestern, where they implemented real-time MR for stereotactic body radiation therapy of the lung and performed intensity modulated radiotherapy treatment quality assurance. From 2002 to 2011, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Graduate Assistant at the Hershey Medical Center, where they provided support and training for image post-processing of DTI, MRS, T2-maps, and structural MRI, designed, purchased, and assembled an Apple XSAN based PACS system, and designed, purchased, and assembled a 16 CPU Linux workstation for post-processing. From 2001 to 2002, they were a Junior Programmer at AlphaSmart, where they created factory test software for the AlphaSmart Dana product, designed and implemented a USB based test platform for the AlphaSmart 3000 product, and performed various language localization tasks in software. Don began their career in 2000 as a Device Driver Intern at Iomega.
Don Bigler obtained their B.S. in Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University between 1998 and 2002. Don then went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and Penn State University between 2002 and 2009.
