Hugh O'Brien has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Hugh is currently a Principal Software Engineer at Improving since November 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at Inspire Brands from November 2014 to September 2021. Hugh also served as a Senior Software Engineer at Improving Enterprises from October 2013 to November 2014. Hugh had earlier worked as a Programmer/Analyst at Tetra Tech from March 2011 to October 2013 and as a Web Developer III at L-3 Stratis from February 2011 to April 2011. Their previous role was a Java Programmer/Analyst for DCA Services from July 2005 to November 2010, where they worked on projects related to customer care modules and contract data manipulation using various technologies. Prior to that, they were a Java Programmer/Analyst at American Education Corporation from December 2003 to July 2005, contributing to an instructional courseware program. Hugh began their career as a Software Engineer/Senior Java Programmer at MINUTE MAKERS, LLC d from April 1997 to May 2003, where they worked on projects related to e-commerce and order processing systems.

Hugh O'Brien attended the University of Oklahoma from 1983 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Later, from 1994 to 1996, they attended the University of Central Oklahoma and earned another Bachelor of Science degree, this time in Computer Science.
