John Petersen has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. John currently serves as the Scientific Director at imec and has been with the company since 2017. Prior to this role, they worked as the Principal Scientist at imec for five years.

Before joining imec, John worked as an Adjunct Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Maryland College Park, starting in 2016.

In 2010, John co-founded Periodic Structures, Inc., a company focused on developing advanced lithography solutions for the study of biological and semiconductor processes.

Finally, John worked as a Fellow at SEMATECH from 1996 to 1998, where they conducted evaluation and development activities in resolution-enhancement technologies.
