Dean Gaalaas is an experienced sales and operations leader in the biotechnology and life sciences sector, currently serving as Sales Director for the Northeast Region at Illumina since July 2022. Previously, Dean held the position of Vice President of Operations at GeneDx from December 2019 to July 2022 and served as Vice President of Sales for Clinical Genomics at QIAGEN from March 2018 to April 2019. Dean's career includes significant roles such as Chief Administrative Officer at MGAC and Chief Operating Officer at GeneDx, where responsibilities included managing daily operations amid rapid company growth. Additionally, Dean was the CEO of EdgeBio, overseeing the transition from a product-focused company to one offering contract DNA sequencing services and bioinformatics capabilities. Dean's early career began as a Chemist at the Maryland Racing Commission Laboratory from 1993 to 1998, following a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Jacksonville University.
