Carla Burruss possesses extensive experience in both academia and corporate environments. Currently serving as the District Office Manager for the Illinois State Senate Democratic Caucus since November 2013, Carla has also held various adjunct faculty positions at institutions including the University of Phoenix and Chicago State University, teaching courses in communications, sociology, organizational behavior, and business. Prior to their academic roles, Carla's corporate career includes significant positions such as Associate Director of Product Management and Technology at Ameritech, where responsibilities included centralizing product rate changes, and Regional Director of Consumer Finance at MCI Corporation, where negotiation of billing contracts with major telecommunications companies was a key focus. Carla holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley, along with an Associate of Arts in Business Administration from American River Junior College.
