Joanne Clyde currently serves as the Director of the Multilingual / Language Development Department at the Illinois State Board of Education, a position held since February 2020. Previously, Joanne held the role of Bilingual Director at Community Consolidated School District 146 from December 2014 to February 2020 and was the Lead Middle School ELL teacher at Lyons District from August 2008 to December 2014, where Joanne taught ELL Reading and Language Arts to middle school students and facilitated staff development on ELL topics. Earlier experience includes serving as a Spanish and ESL teacher at Komarek District 94, where curriculum development and implementation for Spanish classes were key responsibilities. Joanne Clyde earned a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University, while also completing studies at the University of Illinois Chicago.
