Michelangelo Mortello is an accomplished professional in the field of welding, joining, and materials science, currently serving as Associate Director and Manager of Corporate Research, Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships at IIS - ISTITUTO ITALIANO DELLA SALDATURA since January 2020. Michelangelo also holds positions as President of the Technical Scientific Committee at Consorzio Calef, Delegate of Italy for IIW Commission C-IV at the International Institute of Welding, Committee Chair of the Research and Innovation Council at the European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting, and Committee Chair of the Materials and Manufacturing Division Polo EASS at TICASS. Previous roles include Senior Project Leader at TWI and Lead Researcher in Laser Additive Manufacturing at Cranfield University. Michelangelo holds multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Laser and Optical Engineering from Politecnico di Bari and a PhD in laser welding from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, along with a Master in Europrogettazione from Europa Business School and a combined Bachelor's and Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Bari.
