Shahid Mumtaz is a Professor at Nottingham Trent University since March 2023 and has held various prestigious roles including IEEE ComSoc Young Professionals Award and ACM Distinguished Speaker within the IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Vehicular Technology Society. An active contributor to IEEE, Shahid serves as Vice Chairman of IEEE 1932.1 Standard Working Group and has been a Fellow and Editor in Chief of the Quantum Communication Journal at the Institution of Engineering and Technology since January 2018. Previous positions include Patent Analyst at Sisvel Group, Principal Researcher in 6G/5G at Instituto de Telecomunicações, and consultancy roles at InterDigital, Inc. and Huawei. Shahid's educational background includes a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidade de Aveiro and a Master's in Telecommunications Engineering from Blekinge Institute of Technology.
