Islam Tharwat Abdel Halim is an experienced professional in information technology and computer science, currently serving as Region 8 Coordinator for the IEEE Computer Society since April 2021, alongside roles as Chair of the Awareness and Customer Advocacy Sub-Committee and overseeing the Chapter Vitality portfolio. Islam has held positions as an Assistant Professor at Nile University and Ain Shams University since 2021, as well as at Misr International University and Badr University in Cairo prior to that. Islam's extensive background in IT security includes a decade-long tenure at the Ministry of Finance in Egypt, where roles included Chief Information Security Officer and Network and Information Security Manager. Academic qualifications feature a Ph.D. in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks, an M.Sc. in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications, and a B.Sc. in Computer and System Engineering from Ain Shams University.
