Ken began his career as an Ocean Engineer testing equipment in the field, specifically offshore, gaining firsthand knowledge in hydraulics and wave mechanics. Then, he returned to school to earn a master’s in civil engineering to understand the nuances of Water Resources better.
As the Director of Water Resources, Ken oversees the continued expansion of IDS’ Hydraulics and Hydrology Practice. Ken is an accomplished civil engineer with over 20 years of experience in complex flood control systems, authoring drainage master plans, executing forensic soil analyses, and aquifer sustainability studies.
He invented a new type of energy dissipator used in New Mexico and is a subject matter expert in 2D hydraulic analysis. He also created the process for using cloud computing with HEC-RAS. Ken has completed over 50 dam breach analyses in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, with drainage areas ranging from 315 to 16,000 acres. He is passionate about building relationships with clients and integrating novel solutions to drainage at the local and regional levels.
