Ana Gomez Cobo currently serves as the Head of the Safety Assessment Section at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), overseeing key projects related to the design safety of various reactor types since May 2022. Prior to this role, Ana held several positions at the Office for Nuclear Regulation from October 2000 to April 2022, including ONR Superintending Inspector and Principal Inspector, focusing on Generic Design Assessment and Probabilistic Safety Analysis in nuclear safety. Additional experience includes serving as a nuclear power plant technology advisor at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, as well as multiple roles at IAEA and various nuclear safety consulting firms, primarily concentrated on safety analyses and assessments for nuclear power plants. Ana holds education credentials from Universidad de Zaragoza and the Centro de Estudios Nucleares in Spain.
