Amanda Costa has worked for a variety of companies in a variety of roles. Amanda began their career in 2007 as a Teller for The Savings Bank - TSB. In 2010, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where they conducted Astrophysics research in the contributions of active regions on the sun to coronal heating. In 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they performed Industrial Mathematics research with a group working for the Massachusetts Highway Department. In 2011, they worked as a Graduate Student and Teacher's Assistant at the University of Rhode Island. In 2013, they began working at Navatek, LLC, where they served as the Director of Rhode Island Operations, providing oversight of engineering operations and tasking for Department of Defense contracts at the company's Rhode Island office. Amanda also worked as a Senior Engineer, researching and developing Navatek's hydrodynamic and hydromechanical computational tools used for early stage surface vessel design and analysis. In 2020, they began working at HII Unmanned Systems as the Modeling and Simulation Engineering Group Manager, and later as a Systems Engineer 4.

Amanda Costa completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics and Mathematics from Merrimack College in 2011. Amanda then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Ocean Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, which they completed in 2013.
