Mariana Atala

Volunteer At Legal And Policy Department

Mariana Atala currently serves as Vice President of the IE Brazil Club, where responsibilities include club coordination and organizing events centered on political, social, and cultural discussions in Brazil. In addition, Mariana is a volunteer in the Legal and Policy Department of the Human Rights Foundation, focusing on research to improve human rights in non-democratic countries. As an Event Coordinator for the IE Girl Up Club, Mariana has successfully proposed and organized events to promote gender equality. Mariana also contributes as an opinion writer for The Stork, covering diverse topics from foreign policy to social issues. Previous roles include an internship at OPEN, where Mariana conducted research on Portuguese foreign policy, and a position as an editor for the IE International Policy Review. Mariana has also served as a mentor for the IE Mentorship Society and worked as a legal advisor for the IE Legal Clinic, concentrating on issues of genocide and enforced disappearances in Latin America. Mariana is currently pursuing a degree in Law and International Relations at IE University, having previously earned an IB Diploma from the Pan American School of Bahia.
