Rod Ragland is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in hardware and software development within the satellite communications industry. As the Senior Technical Director at Hughes Network Systems since 1997, Rod has overseen the development of critical products like the Echostar XXI ground-based beam forming system and the Iridium Advanced Network Controller. Prior roles include Manager of VSAT Software Development at Communications Satellite Corporation, where Rod led advancements in voice technology for Inmarsat’s systems, and Senior Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin, focusing on signal processing software. Rod's career began as a Digital Hardware Engineer at Tellabs and as a Software Engineer at Nokia Bell Labs. Rod holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and advanced degrees from The Catholic University of America and Georgia Institute of Technology.
