Mark Kirby is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the hydrogen, fuel cell, and biotechnology sectors. Currently serving as Senior Advisor and President and CEO of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association since August 2019, Mark leads efforts to promote and commercialize hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. As a Director at HTEC Hydrogen Technology and Energy Corp since 2009, Mark provides strategic guidance at the board level. Mark previously held leadership positions, including President and CEO of Fortress Advanced Bioproducts Inc. and S2G Biochemical Inc., where innovative bioproducts and sustainable sweeteners were developed, respectively. Early in Mark's career, significant roles at Ballard Power Systems included directing corporate development and the cogeneration market segment. Mark also brings a foundation in advanced gas separation technology from tenure at QuestAir Technologies and operational expertise from a long career at Praxair. Mark holds a BASc with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from The University of British Columbia.
