Sarah Wheeler's work experience has been primarily focused on journalism and copy editing. Sarah began their career as an intern at the Alexandria Gazette Packet and the National Journalism Center in 1988. From there, they worked as a staff writer for Harte-Hanks, Inc., writing feature articles and press releases. In 1990, they became a marketing assistant at Watt-Spohn Universal, supporting the marketing director in promoting products to AAFES stores. Sarah then co-founded Advanced RehabTrust Home Health in 2001 and served as an administrative coordinator, responsible for marketing, website content, and representing the company at industry events. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as the communications director for Senior Help Services, writing and designing PR and marketing materials. In 2011, they began freelancing as a proofreader and copy editor for The Richards Group and LEVELTWO, editing ads across various media. Sarah also worked as a copy editor at RAPP from 2011 to 2013, where they proofread, edited, and maintained brand standards for clients such as Hyatt and Time Warner Cable. Most recently, they have been working at HousingWire since 2013, starting as a content editor and eventually becoming the editor in chief, managing all aspects of editorial content and overseeing sponsored content.
