John Pope has extensive work experience in the medical field. John started their career in 1992 as a Pediatrician at Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, PC, where they worked until 1995. From 1995 to 1999, they served as a Pediatrician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. In 1999, John joined Phoenix Children's Hospital as the Medical Director and Pediatric Hospitalist and held this position until 2009. In the same year, they also started working at Healthwise as a Knowledgebase Medical Review Board and Associate Medical Director. Since 2012, John has been working at HonorHealth, initially as the Director of Pediatric Services and Medical Director at Shea Hospital, and later as the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
John Pope completed their education at several prestigious institutions. John first attended Scituate High School and obtained their high school diploma in 1981. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University from 1981 to 1985. Afterward, they enrolled at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with honors from 1985 to 1989. John also completed an Internship and Residency program in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 1989 to 1992. Later, John obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the University of Arizona from 2001 to 2005. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained several certifications in coaching and healthcare coaching from various institutions throughout the years, including the International Coaching Federation and the Physician Coaching Institute. John most recently achieved the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification from the International Coaching Federation in 2023.
