Joan Smith serves as Chief Engineer and Mobility HCI - Strategy Lead at Honda Research Institute USA, Inc. since April 2023, after holding the position of Associate Director - Mobility Innovation at Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, LLC since June 2018. In this role, Joan leads initiatives focused on human-centered technologies for sustainable mobility. Previous experience includes a tenure at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. as a Senior Materials Research Engineer and Senior Reliability Test Engineer. Joan is pursuing a Master's degree in Cognitive Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University, expected to complete in May 2024, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Dayton.
