Simon Tang is trained as a hardware store owner at Ramsing in Spjald, where he was for 6 years. After traveling and staying in many countries in a large part of the world, he started at Holstebro Pædagogseminarium in 1995. After various jobs as an educator, he became head of a kindergarten and leisure center in Hodsager, before he was hired as head of what is today called Børneuniverset Mejdal (BUM), where he has been for 16 years. BUM is a self-governing institution with room for a total of approx. 350 children in a sensory nursery, a forest nursery, a forest kindergarten, an ordinary kindergarten, an asylum kindergarten as well as Bjørnegrotten and Bjørneskoven, which are for 5-6-year-old children.

He has fluid boundaries between work and leisure, but the garden at home by the house on Østervang in Holstebro he likes to spend a lot of time on and in. Travel and spending time with family and friends also takes up a lot of free time, where he also likes to make himself available for others with help with practical chores.
