Per N. Mortensen had his military service at the Life Guards and a stay at Kalø University College, he was educated as an HD graduate economist at Aarhus University. After a past with sales assignments at HTH and later Tvis Køkkener, Per currently works as a sales manager in Novopan, which is the Danish division of the Austrian group, Kronospan. Novopan produces chipboard for the construction industry, and Per is responsible for sales in the Scandinavian market. At work, he can work a lot from home and has great freedom to organize his workday himself.

Per is a Member of Holstebro City Council from the beginning of 2022 for the Liberal Party. In the City Council, he is a member of the Children and Family Committee and the Social and Health Committee.
