Thomas Hechl serves as the Head of Finance for Africa at Hogan Lovells since September 2014, where the focus is on expanding the firm's finance practice in the region and advising on complex investments in infrastructure and energy. Previously, Thomas held the position of Partner, providing guidance on equity and debt finance transactions across Africa and Asia, recognized with a Chambers Tier 1 ranking. Prior roles include General Counsel at Accession Capital Partners, Partner at DLA Piper leading the CEE finance practice, and Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where Thomas opened the Washington DC office and led the finance practice. Additional experience includes partnership at Chadbourne & Parke, serving as Senior Counsel at IFC, and starting a career as an Associate at Coudert Brothers LLP. Academic credentials consist of a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Doctor Juris degree from the University of Vienna, Austria.
