Sagar Varankar has worked in a number of roles since 2011. Sagar began as a Lecturer at Ramnarain Ruia College in 2011, followed by a role as a PhD Student at the National Center for Cell Science in 2012. In 2019, they took on two roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher, one at the University of Cambridge and one at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Most recently, they have been working as a Senior Scientist at HigherSteaks since 2022.

Sagar Varankar completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biotechnology from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2019. Prior to that, they obtained their Master's Degree in Biotechnology from the same university in 2011. Sagar also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Ramnarain Ruia College, which they obtained in 2009. Additionally, they have a certification in R Programming A-Z\u2122: R For Data Science from Udemy obtained in April 2020.
