Kyle Dunbar has worked in various scientific roles since 2007. In 2007, they began as an Undergraduate Researcher in the M. Chang Lab at the University of California Berkeley. From 2009 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher and Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. From 2015 to 2021, they were an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute, where they worked to unravel the biosynthetic pathways for thioamide-containing natural products and genome mine for natural products from neglected sources. Kyle currently works as a Scientist at Hexagon Bio.
Kyle Dunbar received their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. Kyle then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed in 2014.
