Denis Kramer is a Professor at Helmut-Schmidt-University since November 2019, focusing on electrochemical energy conversion technologies such as fuel cells and batteries. Research interests lie at the intersection of theory and experiment, utilizing computational materials design alongside advanced electrochemical characterization and synthesis techniques to identify technology-enabling materials. Additionally, Denis Kramer serves as a Scientist at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon since September 2022. Previous positions include Associate Professor and Lecturer in New Energy Technologies at the University of Southampton from October 2010 to March 2023, Research Associate at Imperial College London from October 2009 to 2011, and Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT from 2007 to 2009, where investigations focused on lithium-ion batteries and transition-metal oxides. Earlier experience includes a PhD at Paul Scherrer Institut from 2002 to 2007, emphasizing mass transport phenomena in polymer electrolyte fuel cells, and a research student role at Opel in 2002. Denis Kramer earned a Dr. in Engineering from TU Bergakademie Freiberg in 2007.
