Kip J. Smith, PE, currently serves as the Civil Engineering Manager at Hecate Energy LLC since April 2023, focusing on the development, permitting, and construction of solar energy facilities across the Midwest. Prior to this role, Smith was a Senior Civil Engineer at Borrego from July 2018 to April 2023 and an Associate Engineer at Wood from February 1997 to July 2018, where involvement in high-profile civil, environmental, and mining engineering projects occurred. Earlier experiences include positions as a Mining Engineer at Archibald Mining & Minerals, Rust Environmental, Dunn Geoscience, and Vulcan Materials Company, where Smith honed expertise in mine design, environmental permitting, and project management across diverse engineering domains. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1986.
