Janel Pineda possesses extensive experience in education, communications, and fundraising within nonprofit organizations. As a Development Associate at Heart of Los Angeles from September 2022 to October 2023, Janel contributed to fundraising efforts, following a role as Communications and Marketing Coordinator at the same organization from January 2021 to September 2021. Janel’s background includes serving as a Programs Associate at WriteGirl and an English Language Arts Tutor at A Place Called Home, where curriculum development and academic support were key responsibilities. Janel has also been involved with the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador as a Fundraising Collective Member. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a focus on Creative Writing from Dickinson College, a Master of Arts from Goldsmiths, and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. Currently, Janel is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Chicana/o and Central American Studies at UCLA.
