James joined Hawkins\Brown in 2016. He brings to the team over a decade’s professional experience in designing and delivering award-winning projects spanning the education, residential and cultural sectors.
James has a keen interest in the identity of places, and the impact of architectural and artistic intervention in existing environments and communities. He supports the practice's residential team from Studio North.
James takes an iterative approach to design, underpinned by dialogue and creative collaboration. He particularly enjoys the team effort necessary to transform a design into a successful reality. Aligned with this, James is an enthusiastic advocate of Modern Methods of Construction, and the positive influence on design quality that architects can bring to DfMA.
Outside of the studio James can usually be found running in the hills or busy in the kitchen. He is passionate about electronic music and finds time on the turntables whenever he can.
