Melanie Elturk is the CEO and Co-Founder of Haute Hijab. Melanie has dedicated their career to fighting for the rights of Muslim women and has worked with various organizations to help Muslim women feel empowered and confident. Melanie graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. After graduation, Melanie worked as an intern for ACCESS, where they helped raise awareness about the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill that reached the senate. Melanie also worked as a research assistant for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. During their time with the NAACP, Melanie attended Legal Redress meetings with community and organization leaders and served as research assistant to General Counsel Butch Hollowell. Melanie also attended the Annual 2007 Convention and the “Continuing Legal Education” courses. After their time with the NAACP, Melanie interned for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights before becoming a Judicial Clerk for DIFC Courts. Melanie left their position as Judicial Clerk to become a contract attorney for Daniel Law Office. Melanie then became legal counsel for Melt Designs, Inc. before eventually becoming the CEO and Co-Founder of Haute Hijab.
Melanie Elturk received a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and a B.A. in Sociology and English from Wayne State University.
