Sarah Southerland is a Senior Innovation Scientist at HARTING, where involvement in global Innovation Hubs focuses on co-creating new technologies and validating solutions with partners and customers. Southerland holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research included alternative uses for recycled HDPE and the design of a shredding machine. Previous experience includes roles as a Mechanical Engineer at Top Flight Technologies, designing hybrid drones, and at Microsoft, where electromechanical fixtures for Surface products were engineered. Southerland's early academic experience at MIT involved Architecture and Mechanical Engineering, complemented by internships that combined architecture, research in soft robotics, and set design for theater productions.
