Haley Grimm has three years of work experience. Haley began as an Undergraduate Researcher at The Reczek Group in 2012, where they worked to optimize a synthetic pathway affording a variety of core-substituted naphthalene diimide (cNDI) derivatives. During this time, they published a novel method to characterize the products generated in the initial bromination step, as well as a microwave protocol for the subsequent imidization step.
In 2015, Grimm began working as a Graduate Researcher at Horne Lab, where they investigated peptides and other bio-inspired oligomers as piezoelectrics with the goal of gaining a better understanding soft, organic piezoelectrics. Her work focused initially on helical α-peptides, peptoids, and aromatic oligoamides to investigate how conformational rigidity effect piezoelectric behavior. Haley is currently investigating peptide and protein surface structure and activity.
Grimm is currently employed as a Virtual Lab Manager at HappiLabs since 2019.
Haley Grimm began their educational journey by attending Hopewell High School from 2007 to 2010. Haley then went on to Denison University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2014. After that, they attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Bio-organic Chemistry in 2019.
